boys and basketball

Since the Upwards basketball season began, there has not been much else on our boys minds lately besides basketball. For the 8 weeks that the Upwards program ran, they were SO excited for every practice and game. Now, they continue to play each other constantly in the basement, or outdoors if the weather permits. Often I find them sitting at the table talking basketball plays, screens, players and moves. They make diagrams and paper courts with paper players they move around for the perfect shot.

Kaden has always dreamed of playing in the NBA. Colson recently joined in on the big dream and looks forward to seeing which team he'll play on when he's older. This is just so much fun. Recently, Kaden asked Jim, "Dad, now why don't you practice so hard so that you can play in the NBA?"

Jim tried to explain that not only was he past his prime, but also that God did not give him the gift of being an extraordinary basketball player. Kaden was persistent, "No, Dad, you just have to practice super hard and you could be great!"

"Thanks for believing in me, Kaden, but I really don't have what it takes, bud." Jim responded.

"Well, I've got what it takes!" says my ever-confident son. We shall see.... but for now, we are thoroughly enjoying their passion for the game. And what a better time - March madness!! They're loving it!!!

Love those kids! And I love how they want their Dad to try harder! Great photos, Territa.
